Project WiKo

Variability in present-day Brandenburgian

PI(s): Prof. Dr. Malte Zimmermann & Prof. Dr. Martin Pfeiffer

The WIKO project has a citizen science focus and an outreach component. The citizen science focus aims to engage pupils in collecting data on dialectal variability in Brandenburg. These results will be made publicly available in the form of an interactive map with geolocalized linguistic data. The project's outreach component aims to disseminate knowledge about linguistic variability in Brandenburg to the general public. In addition to activities such as citizen dialog formats, information booths at science days, and podcasts, developing a theatre play will raise awareness of the history and variability of Brandenburgian in an entertaining manner.
