(In)Variabilität prosodischer Cues in Perzeption, Produktion und Interaktion

Prosodie ist wichtig für die erfolgreiche Kommunikation. Dieses Projekt untersucht, erstens, die prädiktive Funktion der Prosodie für das Sprachverständnis bei Personen mit Aphasie. Zweitens wird bei sprachlich unbeeinträchtigten Personen untersucht, wie die individuelle Variabilität in der Perzeption mit der Variabilität in der Produktion prosodischer Cues zusammenhängt. Drittens analysieren wir die Ursachen und Grenzen der Variabilität auf segmentaler und prosodischer Ebene in interaktiven Settings bei jüngeren und älteren Personen. Unser Projekt trägt zu einem besseren Verständnis der Funktionen der Prosodie und ihrer Repräsentation im Sprachsystem bei.

Variabilität prosodischer Cues: populationsspezifische und –übergreifende Effekte im Sprachverständnis und in der Sprachproduktion

Dieses Projekt untersucht die Grenzen intra- und inter-individueller Variabilität im Verständnis und in der Produktion prosodischer Cues in strukturell ambigen Sätzen bzw. Äußerungen. Das Ziel ist es, die interne Organisation der Prosodie-Syntax-Schnittstelle als Teil der mentalen Grammatik sowie neuro-kognitive Modelle der Prosodieverarbeitung spezifischer zu charakterisieren. Um die Grenzen der Variabilität an der Prosodie-Syntax-Schnittstelle maximal auszuloten, wird die Verarbeitung prosodischer Cues über verschiedene Populationen (jüngere und ältere Erwachsene, Personen mit erworbener rechts- bzw. linkshemisphärischer Hirnschädigung), unter Verwendung unterschiedlicher ambiger Strukturen sowie anhand variabler Aufgabenanforderungen verglichen.
Wir finden bei jüngeren Erwachsenen relativ stabile prosodische Cues in der Produktion von Namenssequenzen mit oder ohne interne Gruppierung: Prosodische Cues (d.h., finale Längung, f0-Anstieg, Pause) werden intra- und interindividuell relativ konsistent verwendet, um die interne Gruppierung der Namenssequenzen zu markieren. Dabei scheinen alle drei prosodischen Cues relevant zu sein; kein Cue wird isoliert verwendet. Daraus lässt sich schließen, dass prosodische Cues gegen Einflüsse kognitiver Faktoren (inter-individuelle Unterschiede) und/oder sozialer Situationen (intra-individuelle Unterschiede, z.B. wenn verschiedene Gesprächspartner adressiert werden) resistent sind. Unsere Daten stehen im Einklang mit dem Proximity/Similarity-Modell von Kentner & Féry (2013, The Linguistic Review). Hingegen finden wir ein variableres Verhalten bei der prosodischen Realisierung von lokal ambigen OVS- und SVO-Sätzen, da nur einige Sprecherinnen unterschiedliche f0 Konturen zur Differenzierung zwischen diesen Satzarten verwenden. Diese Sprecherinnen zeigten außerdem eine deutliche inter- und intra-individuelle Variabilität bezüglich der produzierten f0-Konturen.
Bei Individuen mit rechts- und linkshemisphärischen Läsionen stellen wir fest, dass beide Gruppen im Verständnis und in der Produktion prosodischer Cues (finale Längung, f0-Anstieg, Pause) in koordinierten Namensequenzen beeinträchtigt sind. Die Verständnisleistung beider Gruppen wurde primär durch die Ausprägung des Pausen-Cues beeinflusst (im Einklang mit Aasland & Baum, 2003, Brain and Language). Bei der Produktion und dem Verständnis der prosodischen Cues zeigte sich in beiden Gruppen eine starke inter-individuelle Variabilität. Zudem unterschieden sich bei einigen Proband*innen die rezeptiven deutlich von den produktiven Leistungen. Dies spricht insgesamt gegen eine klare Lateralisierung der Prosodieverarbeitung entweder zur linken oder zur rechten Hemisphäre.
